Kahf: Journal of Management and Sharia Business takes a strict stance against plagiarism. It is the policy of the journal to publish only original work that has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal.

To maintain the integrity of our publications, the Editorial Board implements the following policies:

1. Screening for Plagiarism

All submitted manuscripts undergo a mandatory screening for plagiarism before the peer-review process begins. The journal utilizes professional software tools, primarily Turnitin or iThenticate, to detect similarities with previously published works.

2. Similarity Threshold

  • The maximum allowable Similarity Index is 20%.

  • Regardless of the overall percentage, the journal strictly prohibits "block plagiarism" (copying large sections of text from a single source without proper citation).

  • If a manuscript exceeds the 20% threshold, it will be returned to the author for revision or rejected immediately, depending on the severity of the overlap.

3. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying someone else's work word-for-word without quotation marks or citation.

  • Self-Plagiarism (Text Recycling): Reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work without proper attribution.

  • Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Summarizing or changing a few words from another source while maintaining the same structure and idea without giving credit.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Patching together text from different sources without original thought or proper citation.

4. Policy on AI-Generated Content

While the use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT) for language editing or brainstorming is permissible, the generation of core research content, data, or conclusions via AI is considered a violation of original authorship. Authors must disclose the use of AI in their "Acknowledgment" section or "Methods" section.

5. Sanctions and Misconduct

If plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will conduct an investigation following the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. If proven:

  1. The article will be formally Retracted.

  2. A notice of retraction will be published online and linked to the original file.

  3. The author(s) may be blacklisted from submitting to the journal for a specified period (e.g., 2–3 years).

  4. The author's home institution or employer may be notified of the ethical breach.

Author Responsibility

Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. We strongly recommend that authors perform their own plagiarism check before submitting their manuscript to our OJS platform.
