Abstract

The appropriation of others’ rights constitutes a form of social injustice that is explicitly prohibited in the Qur’an, as it directly leads to the deterioration of moral order, social relations, and human civilization. This article aims to analyze the concept of the prohibition of taking others’ rights from the perspective of Tafsir Fi Zilal Al-Qur’an by Sayyid Qutb. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, using Tafsir Fi Zilal Al-Qur’an as the primary source, supported by other relevant Qur’anic commentaries and scholarly works. The verses analyzed include Qur’an al-Baqarah[2]: 188, an-Nisa[4]: 29, al-Muṭaffifin[83]: 1–3, Hud[11]: 85, and al-Ma’idah[5]: 38. The findings indicate that Sayyid Qutb views the prohibition of taking others’ rights not merely as a legal injunction, but as a foundation for the formation of faithful individuals, social justice, and trustworthiness in leadership and governance. Qutb’s interpretation emphasizes spiritual, moral, and structural dimensions, thereby presenting the Qur’anic teachings as a living value system that remains relevant in addressing contemporary problems of injustice such as economic fraud, corruption, and abuse of power.
